An Introduction To The 15 Tuesdays Devotion In Honor Of Saint Dominic De Guzman
"Shortly after his death when all the founders were beginning to die, they realized they had to preserve the stories of the beginning, but they did not write a life of St. Dominic. They wrote something called the Vitae Fratrum.
They did not give Dominic a private story, his story. It would have made no sense to do that because he refused the identity of being the "great founder." He created space where people could be brother and sister.
So to write the story of Dominic would be to continue what his life was all about. His gift was to create a space where lots of people could have their stories."

Since 1233 the Order of Preachers has honored St. Dominic especially on Tuesdays, the day of the week of the translation of his body to Bologna. In 1239 and 1272, directives went out to the Order forTuesdays to be consecrated to St. Dominic.
In 1631, a plague swept Florence. Inspired by devotion, a Dominican friar named Fr. Michael Bruni urged the people to go to Confession and receive Holy Communion in honor of St. Dominic on 15 consecutive Tuesdays leading up to the Saint’s feast day, to implore God’s mercy.
(He chose Tuesday as the day traditionally devoted to St. Dominic in the Order, since the relics of the Saint had been solemnly transferred on that day; and the number 15, for the 15 mysteries of the Rosary preached by St. Dominic and his Order.) The plague abated and several notable favors were obtained. Ever since, this devotion has been popular among Dominicans.
This year, as we celebrate the 800th Jubilee of the Dies Natalis (heavenly birthday, or death) of our Holy Father St. Dominic in 1221. We invite you to join us making the 15 Tuesdays, it is the perfect devotion to honor St. Dominic during this 800th Jubilee Year of his death. Honoring and imitating the saints is an excellent way to grow in holiness.
Therefore, this year in honor of the Great Founder, the Sto. Domingo Parish (P) offers to all St. Dominic's Capampangan Devotees this reseached and translated 15 Tuesday Devotion in Honour of St. Dominic.
Through our simple efforts and challenge, may we know more of what St. Dominic have experienced throughout his life, and may we share to his mission of Holy Preaching.
Therefore, this series of 15 Tuesdays will be dedicated to Dominic in the spirit of how we continue his story, It will be a reflection on the "we", we have become in Dominic and a prayer for his continued help and guidance along with Catherine, our foundresses and all those Dominicans who have gone before us in faith.
