INTRODUCTORY

V. O God, You sent + Jesus that we might know You.
R. And sent Your Spirit upon us that we might live.

V. You gave us Dominic that we might walk in the truth of the gospel.
R. With Catherine, our foundresses and all those holy Dominicans
who have gone before us.

V. Christ Jesus, be with us as we join with them in prayer.
R. Show us your mercy and compassion that we might proclaim
 the Gospel in Truth.

V. Spirit of Jesus Christ, fill us with passion as you did Dominic. R. That your justice and hope may bring the kingdom alive
in our troubled world.

V. We ask this as we remember our call as Dominicans.
R. May we truly be sister to one another and to the world.

V. We ask this not for ourselves but that we might give
R. Glory to you, Source of All being, Eternal Word and Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm of Dominican Life
Antiphon: We are People of the Holy Preaching who trust in God and
hunger for truth.

Our souls yearn, wait, and work for the vision.
It will not disappoint; it will surely come.
Teach us, 0 Wisdom, to be Dominican disciples,
Contemplative proclaimers of your word.

Teach us, 0 Light, to pursue and recognize truth;
to study and value wisdom wherever we find it.
Teach us, 0 Just One, to confront evil and to birth
justice in our hearts and in our world.

Teach us, your ways, 0 God, and we will walk in your Truth.
Give us an undivided heart, that we may have holy fear for your Name.
Empower us to love one another as you have loved us.
Enliven us to give ourselves freely in your mission.

Give glory to our God, Creator, Redeemer, and Holy Spirit As it was in
the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

READING: Acts of the Apostles 2: 43-47

Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

TESTIMONY:

With Dominic, obscurity was his own deliberate achievement. Hefollowed the common life and the rule in all points. Anyone couldapproach him. A joyous person with compassion for others' misfortunes, his apostolic, availability, fraternal, friendly andspontaneous proved his Christian dispossession. Dominic realized the difficulties of living community in the early church and sosought not harmony but a focus on unity for the sake of mission. He was notimportant -- the preaching was important. The structures of his Order were to be flexible so it would be able to adapt to new situations and new personalities. For each person's gifts were essential to the mission of the 'holy preaching."

INTERCESSION & OUR FATHER

CLOSING PRAYER

V. Lord Jesus Christ, you sent us Dominic to guide us in Truth that we might preach the Good News to all. Help us to be faithful in our prayer and passionate about your Word.
May our mercy and compassion bring hope to our troubled world. May the wisdom of Dominic and Catherine, help us as we express the Truth in love for our Church.
Give us zeal for justice and the courage
to be faithful witnesses to Your love.
May we continue to walk in the company of Dominic, Catherine, and all Dominicans who have gone before us. That we may be people of Your holy preaching. We ask this in Jesus' name now and forever.

R. Amen.
